Fund Raising

Raising Funds

In support of our local communities we raise funds for the local Bombeiros Voluntários. Each coffee morning has a 'piggy bank in which any donations, spare change or donations from sales can be placed and it will all be collected and paid to the Bombeiros at regular intervals on behalf of Portugal Friends in that town. We do at times make exceptions and with the consent of the local group will split the proceeds with a local charity.

Want to promote your product ?

While the coffee mornings are really meant as a social / networking occasion they do provide you with an opporutunity to buy or sell your products (and/or services) while everyone is together.

At each meeting you can bring along your business cards and leaflets to can share. If you sell products at or via the coffee morning, a contribution to the fund raising 'pig' is all we ask of you. If you want a table for your products alone please let me know in advance so that I can arrange this and a minimum donation of €5 is required. We have ladies who craft and bring their wares along - examples are cards, jewellery, plants, etc.

Each coffee morning has a 'donation thermometer' which records the donations for the individual group.

All funds raised will be donated to Bombeiros Voluntários on behalf of the Portugal Friends coffee mornings and receipts are available for scrutiny.

Did you know ...

The name Portugal first appears in 868, during the Reconquista over the Muslims. A county was formed around the city of Porto, from which "Portugal" is derived.
